If they don't, then what is the purpose of the 82 game regular season besides the fact of having the #1 seed and home court advantage throughout the playoffs? It doesn't make sense at all. I think professional soccer leagues in Europe have got it right over sports here in America. They crown a regular season champ with a trophy and have a separate tournament during the duration of the regular season that crowns that winner of the tournament. It seems pointless that the NBA regular season doesn't mean anything. Case in point, the Spurs. Not always the best team in the season, but come playoffs they "magically" win it.

Well, yeah basically your trophy is that #1 seed and home court. But you get a banner for winning your division. But whats not so great is the fact that if u get that #1 seed, the pressure is on u to perform great and win it all.
Well, at the half point of the season, the team with the best record in their respected conference has their coach coach the All star game.
