Have you ever seen an NBA regular season as exciting as this one?

Since when have there ever been so many powerhouse teams in one conference--a conference that cannot even claim to house the league's best team so far! I have never seen teams under such pressure to acquire that additional marquee talent just to stay afloat in their own conference. The abundance of legitimate contenders seems to be putting heavy strains on GM's all over if they want any real chance of winning it all this year. Just makes you wonder who's going to make a move next? Is Dallas going to pull something off so that people start talking about them now? After all, they were the "team to beat" last year, and there's been almost zero buzz about them the last couple weeks, even with their impressive record.

I think this season just reeks with excitement like none I've ever experienced. Has there ever been an NBA season with one conference so top-heavy as this year's West? I know it's only halfway through, but I don't see any of those top five slipping much.

its been a long time since i could remember all the power teams being in 1 conference. i mean the only real teams in the east are boston and detroit. while in the west you have 10 legit teams. i mean the nets are still in the playoffs picture as the 8th seed and they are like what? 7 games under .500? while teams like the warriors who are 8th in the west, are 11 games over .500 and struggling to keep that spot. the wizards lose 8 straight and they are still the 6th seed. i mean the eastern conference is just so bad, it's laughable. if the warriors or nuggets or rockets lost 8 straight forget the playoffs.

i dont think have have seen any shift in power like this
The western conference is insane. A number 10 seed in the west would be a number 3 or 4 seed in the east , LMAO.
Maybe not one conference dominating like this, but there might have been more interesting seasons. The 87-88 season when 4 teams from the East and 4 from the West were legit contenders was pretty tough to beat from a spectator's standpoint. This was the year that MJ stole the show at the all-star game in Chi-town, and begins his dominance over the league becoming the only player to win the M.V.P. and the defensive player of the year award (because they said he couldn't play D) He also single handedly eliminated the Cavs from the playoffs, and fought the aging Celtics tooth and nail. On the West, the Lakers swept through the first round, later to fight for 7 games each series en route to a 2nd consecutive title. The playoffs that year were phenomenal. The following year expansion to Charlotte, Miami, Minnesota and Orlando was announced. The talent level league wide was so good at that point. So ya, there have been some classic years.
flat out this year is the best

look, the 8th seed in the West is only 5 games behind the 1st seed, how crazy is that?
I have several times. For instances, 2000-01, or 1990-91.
