What will you remeber most about the 2006 NBA season ?

The NBA league thinks steve nash deserves the MVP trophy AGAIN !!!! But when and if we looked back at this season 10 years from now will we say look how good Steve Nash passes the ball. Or will we say Kobe finally came of age and had a great season. Or will we say Detriot had an amazing team and Chauncy Billups was the key ?

The 2006 in my opinion was a very good year for the NBA. The Dunk Contest being brought back to life with Nate Robinson and Iguodoa (not sure on the spelling). The night Kobe scored 81 points. Most people look at that night as selfishness, but when a player is hot, you do not stop passing him the ball. If I was on his team or his coach and he kept making baskets why stop passing him the ball? This isn't Jr High basketball where moms are going to complain to you saying they wanted to see their son shoot the ball. This is the pros and if you want to win you cannot stop a hot shooter. Steve Nash helped the suns once again be the top scoring team in the nation which he has done for the past 3 years. Kobe Bryant scoring over 40 points a game for like 4 games in a row or something like that. And I was anxious to see Detroit get over 70 wins but they didnt make it that far :( . Also seeing the playoffs this year has been good so far. It seems to be alot more physical this year which is bad and good but more teams are more desperate to win which makes watching the playoffs more interesting.

Yes, Kobe dropping 81 is an amazing feat. However, the most memorable and miraculous event of this season was the Clippers winning a playoff series! This is one of those, "never in a million years!" kind of event. I will never forget the year the impossible happened.
I will remember the day Kobe dropped 81 on the Toronto Raptors. Everyone still talks about Chamberlin's 100 but most of us never got to witness that. WEll Kobe's feat was pretty close.
Got to be Kobe and the 81 points he put up in a single game. Or perhaps was it Kobe Bryant's string of 40+ point games. Or maybe how he matured an entire team and took them from what was thought to be a most miserable season to a lead against this year's supposed MVP Steve Nash with high flying centers/forwards and outside shooting to die for?!?!

I respect a team effort, but let's face it, the individual talent in Detroit fits into one of Shaq's shoes while Kobe kicks Shaq along with his shoes out of town.

And, Kobe is not done improving himself or his team. Just look at what he has helped the Lakers do in the playoffs thus far.
I will remember that NCAA basketball is much more enjoyable.
Orlando Magic trading Steve Francis and almost making it to the play offs
Mo Williams made game winning jumpers
Kobe's 81 pts. The lakers beating detroit and san antonio and the new orleans team coming back
i will remember that it is the year that i realized it is a dying league:(
kobe scoreing 81 points....KOBE 4 MVP!!!!
INCLUDING PLAYOFFS: NBA FINALS

NOT INCLUDING PLAYOFFS: When "BIg Shot Show-Off" scored 82 points getting eighteen points away from record achieved by Wilt Chamberlain on March 2, 1962. But, Kobe got four more points than the old runner-up once again achieved by Chamberlain.
